Upload rejected: PRC Number does not match existing project
The prevailing wage case number inside your file has to match the project you picked on screen when you uploaded. Two things break this, and the second one is sneaky.
Cause one
The file is for a different project than the one selected.
Each XML file carries payroll for exactly one project — you cannot combine projects in a single file. If you are filing for several jobs, that is one file per job, and each upload has to be pointed at the matching project.
Cause two
Excel ate a leading zero.
A PRC number must be exactly ten characters. Spreadsheets treat anything that looks like a number as a number, so a PRC beginning with zero silently becomes nine digits the moment the file is opened, saved, or exported.
Count the characters. If you have nine, that is your answer.
Fix: format the column as text before the data goes in, or prefix the value so the spreadsheet leaves it alone. And check it again after any round-trip through Excel — the problem comes back every time the file is reopened.
